Are gutters a requirement?

The short answer: Yes. Due to Medford's city ordinance laws, gutters are required on all new resident construction. Additionally, gutters serve an important role in protecting your home from rain damage.

What is the purpose of gutters?

Gutters serve an important but often overlooked purpose in protecting your home from rain damage. The function of rain gutters is to direct rain water away from a house's roof, siding, and foundation by rerouting water through a carefully designed gutter system, and ultimately to your city's storm drain. An improper drainage system can cause water damage to your home by increasing the likelihood backsplash of mud and soil onto your home's stucco, brick, or siding. Additionally, improperly directed water can pool, leading to foundation damage, compromising your homes structural integrity.

What gutter types are available?

Men of Steel Gutters offers three distinct gutter types in a varity of color combinations and material types, including steel, aluminum, and copper.

5" K or Ogee Style

6" Fascia Style

5" & 6" Half Round Style

What material type is best for my home?

While Men of Steel Gutters offers both steel and aluminum substrates for gutters, we typically recommend steel. Both steel and aluminum have about the same life expectancy, 25 to 40 years. However, in our opinion, aluminum is susceptible to denting, and expands and contracts to a greater degree with temperatures. However, aluminum is more impervious to rusting if the painted exterior is compromised.
